BKBLondon is an independent fine jewellery brand inspired by the effortless elegance and glamour of coastal living.

Founded by gemmologist and designer Barbara Kentish Barnes FGA, BKBLondon creates jewellery that feels personal and timeless, with a sense of relaxed glamour - refined, but never overly formal. 

Inspiration

Born and raised on Croatia’s beautiful Adriatic coast, Barbara later spent several years living in the Caribbean before settling in London. These places and the different expressions of coastal life within them have significantly shaped her aesthetic and continue to influence the world of BKBLondon.

Travel remains an important source of inspiration. Whenever the opportunity arises, Barbara returns to the coast and seeks out beautiful destinations, drawing ideas from the places she visits, the colours and textures she encounters, and equally from the beauty found in everyday surroundings.

At the heart of BKBLondon is a simple belief that surrounding ourselves with beautiful, thoughtfully made things can bring a little more pleasure to everyday life.

Expertise & Craftsmanship

A lifelong fascination with gemstones led Barbara to study gemmology, earning her FGA qualification from Gem-A, the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. Alongside her gemmological training, she developed her skills at the jeweller’s bench through silversmithing and jewellery-making courses at Morley College.

Barbara is both designer and maker, personally handcrafting selected BKBLondon pieces in London. For designs requiring specialist techniques, she works closely with a small network of highly skilled London jewellers, bringing together traditional craftsmanship and specialist expertise while remaining closely involved throughout the making process.

This hands-on understanding of gemstones, materials and craftsmanship informs every BKBLondon design contributing to end result, which is jewellery created with integrity, individuality and a relaxed, understated elegance.

Alongside the collections, BKBLondon offers a personal bespoke service, creating one-of-a-kind pieces designed around you.

From sourcing a particular gemstone to reimagining an existing piece or creating something entirely new, Barbara works closely with each client throughout the process to create jewellery with a personal story and lasting meaning.
